University of Roma Tre publishes research highlighting EHHUR’s role in sustainable urban transformation

The University of Roma Tre has recently contributed to urban sustainability research by publishing two key academic papers that feature our project Eyes Hearts Hands.

The two publications, one presented at the prestigious Società Italiana di Urbanisti (SIU) conference in June 2023 and the other in the internationally recognised journal Agathon, highlight EHHUR’s work in transforming urban areas through community-focused, energy-efficient design.

The first paper, presented at the SIU conference and published in 2024, explores the use of digital models to promote sustainable development within urban planning. The research emphasises how the EHHUR project, funded by Horizon Europe and aligned with the New European Bauhaus (NEB), drives environmental care practices across seven Lighthouses. These districts serve as testing grounds for sustainable energy solutions and participatory urban transformations. The article describes how EHHUR’s use of digital technologies improves public involvement and energy consciousness, which is crucial for encouraging sustainable urban living in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal.

The second paper, published in June 2024 by Agathon, an international journal of architecture, art, and design, explores the relationship between digital modelling and architectural practices that support sustainable urban growth. By focusing on EHHUR project, the article highlights the role that design plays in fostering energy-efficient, community-focused public spaces throughout Europe. The study highlights the ways in which EHHUR’s approach to changing urban settings aligns with the NEB’s principles of inclusivity, sustainability, and beauty, establishing it as a model for environmental responsibility.
